If you want medium-dark or dark roast (NOT recommended), expect to lose 0.4 ounces due to moisture loss—yielding 15.6oz per order. Some eBay sellers are offering 1lb for much less than 1/3 of wholesale prices. This indicates that there is a problem. Other sellers’ false, errant, or ambiguous listings show that they know little to nothing about this premium coffee. They ARE NOT my competitors, as they don’t even belong in the same category! Don’t settle for fake (or blended—some use 20% authentic—usually caged— and label it “kopi luwak”), lower quality (robusta) , or old coffee. Beware of Vietnamese “Asian Palm Civet” coffee that is labeled “luwak.” It is made from the much lower quality robusta beans, are taken from caged animals, and the taste is not comparable to pure Indonesian Arabica beans from Sumatra, Aceh, and other regions. If you simply want to boast to others that you drink Kopi Luwak or want to buy it as a “gag” gift, go for the cheaper options, knowing that you are providing a disservice to aficionados and anyone else who is serious about the industry. Otherwise stated, don’t waste your time. Go to a flea market or just buy a can of Folgers. If you have a discerning palate and appreciate the finer things in life, this coffee is for you! I am not aware of any other purveyors in the United States who roast Kopi Luwak fresh to order, so I consider myself an original and innovator in a niche, competitive, yet ever growing market. I don’t strive to be the biggest, just the best. I first experienced Kopi Luwak in Bali in 2019. Since then, I have only had ONE cup of “commercial” coffee. Subsequently, I have become a connoisseur and aficionado, experimenting with different exclusive beans, roasts, and brews. Like a good wine or micro-brewed beer, some things justify the expense. Customers can expect the pinnacle of quality coffee experiences with this roast-to-order Kopi Luwak. The coffee will be roasted medium and sent as whole beans unless otherwise requested. Our Kopi Luwak is wild harvested (NOT obtained by force-feeding farmed or caged animals). The coffee beans are Fairtrade certified with an expiration date of 11/2027. Green coffee lasts 18-24 months when stored in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. Once roasted, it is best used within six weeks of process before it starts to lose its subtle characteristics. For this specific reason, it is imperative that the kopi luwak be delivered as fresh as possible. This specialty coffee is known for its unique production process involving Asian civet cats (luwaks). These animals are very discerning; they consistently choose uniform sized, highly aromatic berries at peak ripeness, ensuring premium flavor. This results in the most highly sought-after and luxurious brew. By roasting to order, we GUARANTEE the freshest coffee possible. Each and every order will be roasted individually in quantities no greater than 1 pound. By roasting in small batches, we ensure consistency from our single-origin sourced coffee. One day after order, the coffee will be inspected before roasting. Then, it will be roasted, initially cooled in a special coffee bean cooling device, de-chaffed, then naturally further cooled and de-gassed (70-80%%) for 24 hours. On the second day after order, it will be de-chaffed again, then sealed in our resealable, special one-way de-gassing bags to complete the process. On day 3, it will be prepared and shipped FREE via FedEx 2-day Express. Overnight shipping may be available at the buyer’s request and expense. There are three major issues with this—obviously, this is a cruel and inhumane practice; there is no quality control in selecting the berries, so less than premium berries (often those picked from the ground) are fed to the luwaks; finally, the animals are not fed a balanced diet, so the digestive process does not produce the same quality or flavor spectrum. **Coffee can also be ground to order.
