Description

L'Armee en Bataille. Camp D'Ecluse L'Abbeye Heylesem. 1693. This plan/map relates to the 9 years war and the situation in Spanish Netherlands (Belgium) in 1693. I believe the map was printed about 1750 and was the work of the Royal Cartographer. It shows the troop formation of Louis 14th's French army. The King is marked on the plan. Also on the right the physical map of the area. I believe this area may be associated with the Battle of Landen, and the conflict with King William 3rd. 56cm by 36cm. It has been folded so there are some fold lines. Also 2 or 3 very small holes, which are generally only visible when held up to the light. Otherwise the condition is good with a nice, bright clear image. Generous margins. It's a very rare item. I've searched online and not managed to find any other examples of this plan/map. (624ba)
