Text block remains presentable, with age toning, scattered spotting and staining, edge wear, and a torn/creased rear blank. 1741 French edition of Memoires du Baron de Pollnitz, Tome Premier, containing observations from the Baron de Pollnitz’s travels and descriptions of the principal courts of Europe. Published in London by Jean Nourse, this is the fourth edition, augmented with a table of contents. The volume includes an engraved frontispiece facing the red-and-black title page, with the title reading: Memoires du Baron de Pollnitz, contenant les observations qu’il a faites dans ses voyages, et le caractere des personnes qui composent les principales cours de l’Europe. The final page is numbered 538 and states “Fin du Tome premier.” Attractive period leather binding with raised bands, gilt spine decoration, leather title label, volume label “Tome I,” and an old paper shelf label numbered 329. The title page has an early ownership inscription dated 1743; the name is partly legible and appears to read “M de Rouio” or similar. Condition: Tome Premier only.
