Vintage GRINDLEY CAROLINA CHECKS Rare and Collectable Part-Dinner set – Stoneware, England 18 pieces – Collectable Carolina Checks GRINDLEY Pattern. 18 x Rare Vintage ‘CAROLINA CHECKS’ MULTI-COLOURED 6 x Blue, 7 x Orange, 5 x Yellow DINNER PLATES + SIDE PLATES + BOWLS ` 6 x large dinner plates – have some light utensil marks. 6.5 cm / 10.4'' Dinner Plate. 7 x side plates - have some light utensil marks. I chip under one of the plates (Blue) 5 x dessert/Cereal bowls – have some light utensil marks. One has a mark – looks like it was done in manufacturing Please note that all the orange ones have ‘discolouration’ and colour on the bases. They were bought like it, and it looks like it happened when being made – as if they were put on top of one another when wet and smudged – very strange – see all pictures Stamped on base Dishwasher & Microwave safe Made in Staffordshire, England. From the internet: William Harry Grindley and Alfred Meakin established the W. H. Grindley & Company in 1880. When Alfred Meakin left in 1884, William became sole proprietor. Grindley began producing ceramics at the Newfield Pottery in Tunstall in Stoke-on-Trent, England. In 1891, the company expanded and moved to the Woodfield Pottery, also in Tunstall.
