It is from Morse and Gaston's Diamond Atlas: The Eastern Hemisphere, published in New York by Samuel Gaston, 1857 and edited by Charles Colby. A facsimile copy of the title page is included for documentation. The map was designed by Charles Morse, the son of Jedidiah Morse, an early American cartographper and publisher, and the brother of Samuel Morse, the inventor of the telegraph. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the pic. Overall, a nice miniature to small size map that would frame up very economically. Size: The map image measures approximately 4 by 6 inches (10x15cm) on a 6 1/4 by 7 1/2" (16x19cm) page Condition: The map is in Good condition for its age with original hand coloring as issued. There are a couple of brown areas mainly in the margins, otherwise it is fairly clean, strong color and printed on heavy paper with an antique appearance that would frame up well, see the pics for more on condition. International rates apply elsewhere. The map is placed in a plastic sleeve, anchored to a stiff brown paper for support and to prevent edge damage, then shipped in a heavy duty wide shipping tube.
