These appear to be from the same artists from the early 20th century and were acquired with this postcard. Unknown artist. Undated. The postcard is a photograph at Healesville, Victoria The postcard titled “Sons of Australia’s Aboriginal Huntsmen” (No. 47) is part of a stereoscopic series produced by Underwood & Underwood, a major American publisher of stereo views in the late 19th century. Location depicted is Healesville (often associated with the Coranderrk Aboriginal Station area). The format is a stereoscopic card (two nearly identical images viewed in 3D through a stereoscope). Series number: 47 (part of a larger Australian or “Australasia” set) The image shows Aboriginal men posed with traditional weapons, presented in a way intended to illustrate “traditional” hunting culture. Subjects were often residents of Coranderrk Aboriginal Station, near Healesville. There is a light horizontal bend otherwise in near perfect original condition. Measures 17.5cm x 8.75cm.
