1905 RPPC Fort Wrangel AK Chief Shakes Totem Pole + Chief Kadashan House Totems. This represents the creator. The left-hand Totem is surmounted by the Eagle, the crest of the Kadashan family. The bottom image is of Chief Kat-a-shan's [Kadashan] House with Two Totem Poles standing in front of the two-story building, Fort Wrangel [Wrangell], Alaska. 1905 Souvenir Post Card Fort Wrangel AK Chief Shakes Totem Pole Chief Kadashan House Totems Original antique souvenir card postcard – postmarked and hand-dated 1905 This Post Card contains two photos of popular places in Wrangel (Wrangell) Alaska at the time The top image is of Chief Shakes totem pole, Fort Wrangell, Wrangell, Alaska The bottom image is of Chief Kat-a-shan's [Kadashan] House with Two Totem Poles standing in front of the two-story building, Fort Wrangel [Wrangell], Alaska. Kadashan Totems . . . The time of their erection dates soon after the days of the Russian occupation. The right hand one is surmounted by a figure of a man. This represents the creator. The left-hand Totem is surmounted by the Eagle, the crest of the Kadashan family. The Kadashan House shows a lot of debris in front of it . . . for reference, I found a photo of that House from another time (from the Alaska State Library) that shows quite a different landscape . . . (do not get confused, I do not have this photo and it is not part of the auction – just for point of interest) . . .
