"Margarita" was a brand of tobacco smoked by Robert Louis Stevenson, who was a heavy smoker despite having chronic lung disease. His friend, W.H. Low, would ship supplies like cigarettes and tobacco, including the Margarita brand, to him when he was traveling, and Stevenson's letters document his frantic need for them when supplies ran low. A pamphlet titled Stevenson and Margarita by W.H. Low further documents this relationship. Condition: Sound binding. Lacks pull out frameable portrait by Hosking. Very few of them remain. Wear to top and bottom of spine and board tips. Staining to boards as pictured above. Scattered toning else pages clean, tight and whole. 6 1/4" x 9" with 20 pages plus colophon.
