Scene Description: The Sunderland, first of Britain's new fleet of flying battleships, underwent trial flights at Felixstowe, Suffolk, England, May 27, before being handed over to the Royal Air Force. The ship, shown in the air here, is a development of the Empire type of commercial flying boat. Its speed and range are still secret, but it is understood that it is capable of flying 3,000 miles with a full load of bombs and guns. Note the gun turret in the tail. Published June 10, 1938.
