Up for sale are 3 seed-grown Acer palmatum 'Arakawa' trees. These are the last of last year's runt seedlings. Arakawa is known for its gnarly, corky-looking, highly textured bark and is sometimes called the Rough Bark Maple. A high percentage of these seedlings should develop the rough bark and rough root bark characteristic of Arakawa. This group of seedlings is very consistent, with little variation. The trees are almost identical. Arakawa is one of the most popular trees in Japan, both for bonsai and landscape-growing enthusiasts. Japanese Maple seedlings can vary a lot or be mostly uniform. Some closely resemble the parent trees, while others will not. You never know for sure what you'll get, but you can be sure it'll be awesome! They can be grown in zones 5 to 9. Under ideal conditions, the trees can grow to 25 feet tall. In the fall, the leaves turn a bright, fiery orange-red. Shipping is $12 by Priority Mail or Ground Advantage.
