We will work with you! 5 Antique CONNECTICUT Political Educational SAR Commemorative Bronze Medallions …… Recently found in a Connecticut home, this auction is for five antique Bronze Medal Medallions dating from the late 19th and early 20th century all pertaining to Connecticut. We are listing all five of these Commemorative Medallions together, and with No Reserve! Below is a description of each example included in this auction. 1. The first medallion is a Hartford, Connecticut “May 10th 1898 One Hundredth Anniversary” medallion measuring 1 3/4” in diameter by 3.77 mm thick. Research indicates this date corresponds with historical and patriotic events held in Hartford during 1898, including gatherings connected with the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. 2. The second medallion measures 2” in diameter by 4.46 mm thick and is a Norwich Free Academy Newton Perkins Medal dated 1857. Norwich Free Academy is a private school located in Norwich, CT and according to the engraved inscription this medal was “Awarded to Anabel Perkins June 22 1897 The student of most proficiency in Greek.” 3. The third medallion is a large “1635–1935 Connecticut Tercentenary” commemorative medal depicting colonial settlers on the front and grapes and vines on the reverse with the inscription “Three Centuries of Self-Government Based on Constitutional Liberty Religion Law Education.” It measures 3” in diameter by 4.55 mm thick. 4. The fourth medal measures approximately 2 1/2” in diameter by 5.99 mm thick and commemorates a “Dinner to Ambassador Baron Rosen June 15 1906.” It is marked “Made in Bridgeport Conn.” and depicts an industrial factory scene on the front, while the reverse reads “130 Years of Friendship” above two heraldic crests, likely commemorating diplomatic relations between the United States and Russia. 5. The final and largest medallion measures 4” in diameter by 5.51 mm thick and is a “Tenth Anniversary Testimonial” medal from The Travelers Insurance Company presented in appreciation for contributions to the success of the tenth anniversary testimonial honoring President Louis F. Butler in November 1925.
