Before the beginning of the war several dozens of this aircraft were built. In 1944 on Irkutsk plant #39, mass production of new modification Er-2 with the diesel engines Ach-30B started. The pilots liked the bomber for the comfortable cockpit with the good view, its stability, manageability, strong armament and survivability.
