Description

Acrylic or oil on canvas painting, 25" by 30 1/2" in simple frame, painted somewhat in the "Hard Edge" and Op Art styles, the imagery difficult to summarize: shapes of diamonds, clubs, heart, (think playing cards), superimposed on each other, and in turn superimposed on what appears to be a background of open water and endless mountain ranges. The work is signed at lower left "Marilyn Griffith" and titled on stretcher "21 String Mandala". There does not appear to be a listed artist by this name, which is surprising considering the complexity and sophistication of the imagery. The work is meticulously painted; note the central area where yellow color bands turn to red and then to blues. Condition is very good, with some light soiling and minor abrasions. A fine addition to any mid century modern interior.
