When I was placing my camera, I realized I had a lot of respect for this lighthouse. It's not just about the light it gives to the ships, but the stability and unwavering presence it represents. What is beautiful in photographing a lighthouse is that you’re not just capturing a building, but also capturing its spirit. Like all lighthouses, Bass Harbor Head Light Station has natural beauty. Every side is a good side. The white walls and the bright red of the roof were emphasized by the shadow on it, depicting a balance between human craftsmanship and nature’s forces. It is reassuring to think that this lighthouse has been guiding ships in Mount Desert Island for over a hundred years. And here I was, with my camera, attempting to capture that legacy into one frame. The sunlight reflection on the building made it look like it served a purpose that could never change with time. Acadia Lighthouse remained as a symbol of mankind’s creativity and the power of nature. As I took the final shot, I felt the wind blow through the trees as if the lighthouse was breathing. It’s not very often you get a moment like that—where everything falls into place just right.
