Accurate Map of England and Wales Mathew Carey c1795 Roads Atlas Map. Newhaven.”. This is a genuine early Carey/Guthrie atlas map (not a modern reproduction), and it dates to thelate 18th to early 19th century (circa 1795, possibly later issue up to about 1811). Condition isgood/fair antique condition with age wear and it is being soldas shown in the photos. “An Accurate Map of England and Wales with The Principal Roads from the best Authorities,” with the top margin reading “Engraved for Carey’s American Edition of Guthrie’s Geography improved.” The title cartouche also includes the engraver credit “Doolittle sc. Newhaven.” This is a genuine early Carey/Guthrie atlas map (not a modern reproduction), and it dates to the late 18th to early 19th century (circa 1795, possibly later issue up to about 1811) . The map shows England and Wales in detailed period engraving with road networks, county divisions, and coastal/place-name detail, making it a strong piece for collectors of antique maps, British cartography, and early American atlas printing. Condition is good/fair antique condition with age wear and it is being sold as shown in the photos . There is light to moderate age toning, scattered foxing/spotting, and fold lines from original atlas storage/handling. I do not see the major splits or losses present on some of the other examples, but there is typical edge wear and minor handling wear, plus age-related toning/staining visible on the reverse. (d3)
