Description
The image shows a vintage souvenir folder for the Royal Museum for Central Africa (Musée Royal de l'Afrique Centrale) in Tervuren, Belgium. The museum was originally established in 1898 as the "Musée du Congo" to showcase King Leopold II's Congo Free State. It was built for the 1897 Brussels International Exposition and was intended to be a propaganda tool to attract investors and public interest in the colonial project. The museum's collections primarily focus on the natural history and ethnography of the Congo, a former Belgian colony. The institution is also known as the AfricaMuseum and has faced criticism for its colonial-era exhibits and history These postcards are colorized from the early 1900’s. They have a perforated edge and a Sheet of onion paper in between photographs. Some of the onion paper is folded but hasn’t damaged the post cards. The book is not missing any postcards. And they are in great condition. Please let me know if you need more pictures.
