This is a rare four page advertising herald (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the Original West End production of the obscure BERNARD SHAW play "GENEVA" at the St. James Theatre in London. (The production opened November 22nd, 1938 at London's Saville Theatre, transferred to the St. James Theatre on January 30th, 1939 and returned to the Saville Theatre on May 15th, 1939, running for a combined 237 performances. A Broadway production would open January 30th, 1940 at Henry Miller's Theatre and close after only fifteen performances.) ..... In what Shaw called, "a fancied page of History", this dark satire on current European problems called leaders from Germany, Italy and Russia to Geneva to respond to charges of criminal activity. This four page flyer measures 5 3/8" X 8/" inches and includes excerpts from newspapers throughout the United Kingdom, promotional text and performance times ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) There is slight discoloration, a small tear in the bottom edge of the back page and minor creasing along the seam. Despite these flaws, this rare flyer will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
