The composition shows the surroundings of Maxburg – the place where today’s Künstlerhaus (House of Artists) is located. The scene is rendered in a moody, warm colour palette with soft light and a delicate romantic atmosphere typical of 19th-century city landscapes. The painting is signed in the lower left corner: “W.
