Often referred to as the last great Romantic poet, Smith's verse is an imaginative blend of fantasy, science fiction, the supernatural, the mythological, and the metaphysical. Of all the Arkham authors, Smith the poet deserves a place in proper "literature" the most, as these are astounding poems. The Star Treader, Nero, The Medusa of the Skies (a favorite of mine), and so many more. The hallucinatory Hashish-Eater will expand the reader's consciousness. There are love poems, there are translations from Baudelaire's Flowers of Evil and from Verlaine (Smith was fluent in French). 500 poems and 404 pages. Book is in very good condition, some minor edgewear to the dust jacket along the front and back fold, some yellowing along the top and bottom edges of the jacket. The black boards are shiny, the pages white without edge discoloration. There is a mark on one of the contents pages - this is a printer mark, not caused by me. This is from my personal collection - I purchased it from the publisher and have had it in my possession in a smoke free home since. I will have more Smith items for sale shortly.
