Starting from childhood, he showed extraordinary talent, leading to many awards and art opportunities as a youth. As a young adult, Richard attended Chouinard's Art Institute in Los Angeles. Marrying artist Susi Nagoda, they developed a line of ceramic pieces, including the famous Santo figurines, and later Susi’s re-imagining of Native American mythological figurines, inspired by her Arizona childhood experiences. Richard continues today pursuing his long love of painting and pastel, his style takes inspiration from the great French Impressionists.
