Description

Cobblestone Bridge Jordan Pond Acadia National Park Maine Chrome Postcard. Published by Maine Scene Inc. in Union, Maine. Its unique rounded-stone facade makes it the only bridge in the network with this artistic design, intended to blend seamlessly into the Jordan Stream surroundings. This postcard features the iconic Cobblestone Bridge spanning Jordan Stream on the carriage roads at Acadia National Park in Maine. John D. Rockefeller Jr. funded and William Welles Bosworth designed the carriage roads of Acadia, with Cobblestone Bridge being the very first completed entirely of hand-set cobbles in 1917. Its unique rounded-stone facade makes it the only bridge in the network with this artistic design, intended to blend seamlessly into the Jordan Stream surroundings. Visitors typically begin at Jordan Pond House and follow the Jordan Stream Path, a shaded wooded walk that parallels the carriage road, offering glimpses of mini-waterfalls and mossy granite boulders before reaching the bridge. - Published by Maine Scene Inc. in Union, Maine - Photographer credit: Photo © Marjorie Nietz - Number MS 477 Shipping and Handling: Carefully packaged to ensure safe arrival Shipped promptly (same day for orders before noon) Tracking information provided Questions about this postcard?
