Dylan Fans !! - Dead Fans !!! - and especially-those out there who might perhaps be new to both !? Wow ... " Dylan AND The Dead " ?!?? Does it get any better than this ? Could it possibly ?? Personally, I think not. This '87 Tour - a real & in the flesh - ' Live ! ' meeting of the Rock 'n Roll Superpowers ! was Absolutely-Incredible !! - and there were only 6-Shows booked ( 3 on the East Coast ! - and 3 on the West Coast ! ) for the very-very lucky ones who caught this Tour ! I saw video of the Giants Stadium 7/19/87 Show not too long ago, and was simply blown-away - Dylan strummin' away on a Washburn Acoustic ( with fingerless gloves ! ) -- and Garcia even on Pedal Steel !!! Just awesome ... I love my Rock 'n Roll just as much as the next very-serious Fan - but... for me personally ? This release is one that I can Never-Ever ! get enough of. It has been a Musical-staple in my Heart, Mind & Soul for well-over 35-Years ! now ... since its inaugural release in 1989 - on the Columbia label ( per Dylan's record contract ). There is both the Subtle & Excellent, and also the Power, Musical-control, Lightning & Thunder ! in this-release. Talk about Tone, Confidence, and Trust ! on stage as a ' Band ' in the Guys next to you - also carrying their part of the load. I often joke with my Friends & fellow Music Lovers that this 1987 ( & 1986 too ! ) unit of " Dylan & The Dead " ) featuring Bob Dylan - Jerry Garcia - Bob Weir - Phil Lesh - Mickey Hart - Billy Kreutzman & Brent Mydland ... is indeed the " Best-Band " Ever ! that has ever played Together ' Live ' ! And you know what - in truth, I'm not certain that this is any joke at all -- as I personally believe it to be true, when it comes to Rock 'n Roll being played ' properly ' ... which, unfortunately is a somewhat dying-off art form here in today's recent age. I would take these 6-men at each ' position ' over almost anyone ... sure, there might be a possible exception, or two - but as a whole ? I don't know ... they are all just that good at what they do, and know one can do it just quite like them. Granted, these are just my personal feeling on the matter - but as you can see, on this one ... I do feel this strongly. It might not be for everybody out there, and that I do realize - but for me, and my ears & mind ... this here fellow fans, is an instructional on how Rock 'n Roll ! should be played, and played-well.
