" 1990's " Dick's Picks release which Dick Latvala himself decided to let out of the Grateful Dead bag of tricks ( released way-back in 1997 ! ). This is a Powerful and Tight performance at " The Garden ! " featuring the 3rd Show of a Historic ! 1990 Fall Tour Six ( 6 ) night run ( yes, Six ( 6 ) N.Y.C. shows in just Seven ( 7 ) days !!! ). The Boys are certainly running on all cylinders throughout this one for the New York Dead Fan Faithful ! - seemingly, or at least " audibly " regardless of the fact that it was an extremely-transitional period for the Band. With the very-painful & completely-untimely loss of Brent Mydland, this 1990 Fall Tour is the first glimpse of this seemly unstoppable band known as Grateful Dead continuing to Roll ( & Rock ! ). Two ( 2 ) new members for this Tour ( and the next few ), both the well-known & successful Bruce Hornsby on keyboards, accordion & vocals + the newest and very productive band member Vince Welnick ( from the famous 1980's Bay Area band " The Tubes " ) on keyboards & vocals too !! This fine-period nicely demonstrates the modern power-packed, strength-in-numbers ( Seven ( 7 ) Members playing instruments ) form of the Band, with Jerry Garcia's midi-guitar ( multi-digital interface ( horns, trumpets, etc. ) ) work virtually serving as the 8th " Cosmic-Member " of the Band ! As Jer was-indeed " feeling-it ! " all throughout this 9/16/90 MSG Show ... and Dick heard-it ! A must-hear, and really a must own & ' keep ' in the Collection too - as while lots of the old Deadheads definitely caught this run, many of the new Deadheads can proudly say that they did too !!
