Right smack dab in Dallas / Fort Worth ( at T.C.U. ( Texas Christian University ! ) none the less ) - just a couple of years after the local Folks probably heard about that ' Woodstock ' thing !?? This must have been a Completely-Awesome ! Show ( & Scene ! ) to attend - and I'm so psyched for you Fans out there that were able to catch this Very-Magical Dead Show ! I will say one thing for certain ... the Band is downright " Gun-Slinging ! " on this Very-Hot !! Texas night. The Songs, Ballads & Cowboy Tune ! are attacked with vigor - and the Improvisational Psychedelic ! moments are pushed to the Absolute-Max !! As many of you may, or may not already know this ' Other One > Me & My Uncle > Other One !!! ' puts you right back in the saddle yourself ( through your head-phones - naturally ... ) - so incredibly clean ( transitionally ) & dynamic ! And, even though Donna Jean Godchaux was the one who actually approached Jerry Garcia herself - to ask him to let Keith Godchaux in the Band as the new Keys player ... Keith's playing is totally delightful at this stage - and this once again asks the question if Garcia ever came even close to making an imperfect-move when it came to staffing-up the line up of the Band during every different Grateful Dead time & era ? So-Impressive ... A Fantastic ! addition to the Band - indeed. When listening to this release for the very 1st time ( as strangely I never owned the analog cassettes ? ) even more then just thinking about " Don't Mess With Texas ! " ... I kept finding myself thinking & feeling " Don't Mess With The Gool Ol' Grateful Dead !! ". They no-doubt deliver the Fiery ! goods here - just into their 6th Year as a Band together during this Brilliant !! Fall '71 Show ... Wow !!! Enjoy !!!!!
