This 1977 Album is nothing short of Spectacular !! ... and, as I always like to think about & mention - when discussing " Terrapin " ... the Grateful Dead Fans that were so fortunate to attend the 2/27/77 San Bernardino, CA Show - must have just been downright-floored ... Thrilled ! really & beautifully-confused with a New-sense of the same Good Ol' Grateful Dead ' Live ' Bliss !!! As this Show did indeed feature the Live Debut of ' Terrapin Station ' ... and as many Fans do tend to agree - it was nothing quite-like anything ! the Grateful Dead had ever played Live before. And, to consider too ... many Dead Fans must have had much of the exact same feeling just close to a year and a half prior ... when the Grateful Dead came out Live in '75 - sounding like " Blues For Allah " !?! Another amazingly different, yet welcomed naturally ... change & metamorphosis by their beloved Grateful Dead ! And, in somewhat familiar form on both " Blues " & " Terrapin " the Dead delivered multi-section / part Songs ... with different names for the segments - while one real almost opera type story - in the end. They did it on Allah ... and then went Huge ! on ' Terrapin Station ' - actually delivering the Title-Track into an Eight ( 8 ) segment / section song ... which, as we all know - rolls through just about as smoothly as one might expect, and home for.
