Description

This 1980 UK import stereo album from L'Oiseau-Lyre's Florilegium Series (DSLO 582) features performances of two works by George Frideric Handel: Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate . They are performed by Emma Kirkby (Soprano), Judith Nelson (soprano), Charles Brett (Counter-tenor), Rogers Covey-Crump (Tenor), Paul Elliott (Tenor) and David Thomas (Bass), accompanied by The Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and The Academy of Ancient Music, a period-instrument ("on authentic instruments") orchestra conducted by Simon Preston. The album includes a large (album-sized) 4-page booklet with liner notes in English and German by Donald Burrows, a French translation of his notes by N. Lesieur, and lyrics in English. The outer sleeve shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2). This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear. NOTES: Album sleeves may have a small index sticker, usually in the upper right corner of the back, which was applied when the album was first purchased for this private collection.
