Description
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire J.K. Rowling 1st UK Deluxe Collector Edition. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. (The first three use the printing number-line.). "HP and the Order of the Phoenix" was published in two issues (or states): a children's issue with the dust jacket art in red and yellow colors which is probably the more desirable of the two and an adult issue in black, brown and gray colors on the dust jacket. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling Hardcover First Deluxe Edition - First Printing- Deluxe Issue London: Bloomsbury UK, 2000. Dark blue cloth boards. Issued in only 10,000 first printing copies (reprinted ad infinitum.) Cover artwork by Giles Greenfield inset in the front. No dust jacket and no cover price as issued. "First Edition" stated on the copyright page indicating a first printing. Essentially the same as the trade issue except in cloth boards without jacket and two of the three errors from the trade edition were corrected. The error on page 579 where the parents coming to see Harry through the mirror is mixed up remains the same. Essentially Fine (without jacket as issued). Corners are straight, boards clean, pages clean, hairline graze to the upper right edge near "R" of "POTTER", barely noticeable, just a hint of shelf-wear to the lower spine and some rubbing to the right-hand edge of the text-block, so common with these deluxe UK editions. NOTE on the first UK Edition: When released in 2000, HP and the Goblet of Fire was the first HP book to be issued in both the UK and US simultaneously. Released shortly after the trade edition, this UK deluxe edition is much more uncommon and was released in 35,000 first printing copies, as opposed to the first trade printing which was released in reportedly about 750,000. NO equivalent US deluxe edition was ever released. NOTE: This is NOT the Raincoast-Canadian or the Australian edition. NOTE on the UK Editions of the Harry Potter books: The true first editions/first printings of the Harry Potter books were issued by Bloomsbury UK. For all titles beginning with "HP and the Goblet of Fire", all first printings are shown as "First Edition" on the copyright page to make it very easy to differentiate printings. (The first three use the printing number-line.) "HP and the Order of the Phoenix" was published in two issues (or states): a children's issue with the dust jacket art in red and yellow colors which is probably the more desirable of the two and an adult issue in black, brown and gray colors on the dust jacket. The UK editions of the Harry Potter books read slightly differently than the US versions. Sadly, editors at Scholastic US felt American children wouldn't understand some of the British-English phrases and words so they "Americanized" the text. Some of the US text reads a bit clumsy. In my opinion, the UK text is far superior and reads lighter, faster, wittier and ultimately easier than the more clunky US texts. NOTE: The picture is the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.) NOTE on FEEDBACK: If you have problem with an order for any reason, please contact me before leaving feedback! 99% of the time we can resolve the problem. It is much more difficult to change feedback once left. A Word on First Editions: 95% of my offerings are trade editions, and 90% of those are first printings. In general I do NOT sell bookclub editions or cheap reprints like Modern Library except in rare instances which would be explicitly stated as such. In general, I also DO NOT sell x-library copies. If the book is both a first edition AND a first printing, it will be marked as “first edition” in the Item Specifics under “Special Attributes” , otherwise assume a later printing or a later edition. NOTE on USPS Shipping: The US Post has graciously increased their rates! I ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays. $7.15 in the U.S. only via priority mail (2-4 days). Make sure your current address is on Ebay and/or Paypal! All books are bubble-wrapped, and those costing over $50 will be placed in a box. My shipping costs are slightly more than others because I use dust jacket covers, bubble-wrap, and boxes. The extra $1 or so is worth it to protect your book! FYI, media mail is a discount shipping rate for books and CD's. It is not the same as first class mail, and you can't expect items to arrive in the same time frame. They typically take 1 1/2 to 3 weeks. Items shipped media mail take longer than a letter which is first class. PLEASE contact me if you would like a reduction in shipping costs for multiple purchases sent to a single address. (not always possible with international shipping.) ATTENTION Canadian and International customers: $46 international priority mail with required tracking. (I now require international tracking on all items over $50) There may be a delay, sometimes an additional 1 to 8 weeks, if your package is inspected by your country's custom's inspectors. I cannot be responsible (and I have no control over) delays due to customs inspections. It is best to find out your country's policies in this regard. Any further questions, please email me. I try my very best to accurately describe condition. Disputes in condition of items must be resolved within 15 days of shipment of item. Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
