The Curse of Girlhood × The Liberation of Eros ——— A ribbon is not an ornament. It is a contract of silence— A secretive, allegorical game by photographer Kenichi Murata, whose work has received high acclaim both in Japan and abroad. The tenth photo book from Atelier Third, following The Princess Who Plays the Heart. ——— As a symbol of girlhood, the ribbon conceals the nipples, conceals the genitals, and seeks to seal away eros. In this series, Ribbons and Restraint, the struggle between that suppression and the eros that tries to break free and erupt is rendered visible. It may be said that this is a series in which liberation from innocent girlhood emerges more prominently than ever before. — Jukyo Satsuki ——— ——— This work was conceived as a means to confront the anxiety of death. Opposed to it stood eros— by countering the concept of death, Thanatos, I had maintained a balance of the mind. But now that death has drawn uncomfortably close, that axis of opposition has lost its meaning in the face of an unforgiving reality. All that remains to me is the act of creating itself. As death continues to walk beside us, I must once again create a new worldview. — Kenichi Murata ——— Models: Halca / Maki Izumi / Sayo Hiiragi / Komari / Nanano Kenichi Murata — Photographer.
