Description

Jerry Garcia : Jerry Garcia Band - How Sweet It Is... : J.G.B. 1990 Spring Tour ' Live ' at the Warfield Theatre ! - San Francisco, California ( CA ) : CD : 1997 (1990/1997) Estate of Jerry Garcia - Grateful Dead Records / Arista Records, Inc. - GDCD 4051 : Rare !!! Amazing !!! Jerry Garcia Band ! - Recorded ' Live ' at The Warfield !! - on the J.G.B. 1990 Spring Tour !!! ... " How Sweet It Is ... " !!!!! Garcia Fans !!! Wow !! ... for certain ! A 1997 GDCD CD pro-release ' Dead-icated ' completely ! to Jerry Garcia Band Shows !! - at the Warfield !!! You already have this one, right ? I'm concerned that you might not - because I don't know if you would be reading this far if you already did ... ? Well, how can I say this most effectively - how about this : Every single Fan that loves the Brilliant-Music ! of Jerry Garcia & The Jerry Garcia Band " Needs ! " to own this release, and better start making up for lost-time now. To me personally, J.G.B. and the Warfield are two of my favorite things that I've ever seen, heard or been during this lifetime. My childhood Touring Buddy actually used to refer to the Warfield Theatre as " Church " - and once I went myself for one of the many Historic & Classic ! Tues-Wed-Thurs night runs - I immediately agreed there was absolutely no better way to truly & accurately explain the experience. Jerry played numerous ( almost too many to count ) Shows at the Warfield for close to 15 years, and there might have been a lot of shows played - but it was evident that every performance mattered greatly to him. On great days, good days or even arguably bad ones - there were still Always ! " Moments of ( Jerry ! ) Magic ! " that would happen inside the Warfield Theatre, and you could always tell that Jerry would try his absolute-best to make certain that " It " would happen some way, and in some form - at every-single JGB Show. It might have been a song, songs, one set, a whole show, a memorable jam, a vocal bulls-eye or just a catchy phrase, or unforgettable rift that only J.G. could do - but he would always manage to make certain that it would happen. Throw all the pressure of the Late 80's/90's Grateful Dead ' machine ' right out the door - as nobody ever had any higher musical standards for Jerry then Jerry himself ! When you put your elbows up on that stage, saw nothing but those leather shoes & then saw the curtain slowly draw ... he was going to do his absolute-best to make tonight's show count both for you, and for him. And usually ( being Jerry & all ) ... it came often, and real-easy. The Jerry Garcia Band was created, developed & then evolved out of Jerry's pure passion for music, his own music, and the fantastic music of others ( his musical idols ). Bob Dylan even once said that Jerry was the " Ultimate Interpreter of My ( Bob Dylan ) Music". On this Very-Special ! CD release, there are 10 tracks - 2 of them Garcia / Hunter songs & 2 Dylan songs, and the other 6 songs are written by others - other artists that Jerry was very passionate about, and he wanted to do the utmost justice to each unique song when performed Live. This release captures the essence of a fine-night(s!) with The JGB at the Warfield like no other does, because it perfectly demonstrates Garcia's committed love & passion for his music, the music of others, and also for the fans. My eventual conclusion, was that nights at the Warfield were just as much " Church " for Jerry ! as they were for any us. I'm realistically wise in facing the fact that I'll probably never see anything quite-like the Jerry Garcia Band at the Warfield Theatre again, but I'm also truly wise in knowing that I was indeed one of the ones so-very-fortunate-enough to see it. Treasure this one my fellow Garcia Fans !! ... which I'm certain you will. Enjoy !!! -- " How Sweet It Is ...
