This was a very-very special release for many Grateful Dead & Garcia Fans - as it was indeed the very-first J.G.B. professional live release ever offered !!! ... hard to believe, right ? I know - but it's fact ! I even distinctly-remember the day that this set was released - because it was a really ! big-deal !! You know ... time to start Truckin' it on down to the Record Store ! - which now even carried these fabulous " CD " things !?! Oh yes, how time flies ... Not only was it the Very 1st chance to own Jerry Band " Live! " in the digital CD format -- but it was 15-tracks of Pure J.G.B. Bliss !!! ... fresh from the year just prior : 1990 ! A true snapshot of what the Garcia Band was up to - and keep in mind that when this came out ( 1991 ), they had not played on the East Coast for almost 2-full-years ! - since 1989 !! In my personal opinion, this release did for Jerry Garcia & the Jerry Garcia Band - what " Touch of Grey " did likewise for the Grateful Dead. Maybe not quite to that extreme-caliber ( Whoa ! - Right ?!? ), but the timing, cause & effect was very much the same ... The J.G.B. had a massive East Coast Tour run booked for the Fall in '91, and this release came out just a few months before - so, in a way ... Garcia was practically Touring this Live Album ( the CD itself, and all of the material included ) !! There had not been a solo-effort album by Jerry Garcia since " Run For The Roses " in 1982, and he never did put out another " Studio Album " in his entire lifetime ... all the way through 1995. My point being - that this Massively-Grew ! the J.G.B. fan base almost overnight when this album ( 2-CD Set !! ) was released, as it was quickly followed by a Huge !!! J.G.B. 1991 Fall Tour !!! Check out the " Pure Jerry " release Hampton 11/9/91 to get a pure taste. I got a taste myself ' Live ', as I was fortunate enough to see the Two ( 2 ) Tour-Openers !! at the Cap Centre on 11/6/91 & 11/7/91 - and my goodness were they " On " - just Super-Duper Tight ! as a Band ... and just Bringing-It !! for the Loyal East Coast Garcia-Fan Faithful !!! The crowd anticipation & reactions to the hot-moments of Garcia & Co. Magic ! were just Humongous ! ... From the 11/6/91 show opener-on ( Cats ! ), I could tell this Tour was truly one of ' the-ones ' to see, without any question at all ... These were the days, and all of the same ' Jerry-Magic ! ' is Wonderfully !! captured with perfection on this now-Legendary ! J.G.B. 2-CD Set !! Enjoy this one with all of your might ! But never fear, because it isn't too hard to do so, at all ... Wow !!!
