Abstract oil painting of a psychedelic face. "Lady with Earrings," as this painting is called, is a very modern abstract portrait. It's especially notable for its bold, angular planes and its mosaic-like sections, that fit together like an absurd puzzle. This is from the late 80s, and it's by acclaimed American artist Batya Dagan (1933-2013). Dagan was a L.A. based Israeli artist who had an bold, expressionistic style often compared to LeRoy Neiman. Her work included portraiture, abstracts and still lives. She was also a poet and a leading figure in the Jewish community. Measures 24" by 24" and is signed in the front.
