Description
Large, striking depiction of a Spanish or Mexican Matador. The artist has given a certain 3-dimensionality by using heavy brush strokes in places to create significant texture. Framing could do with some restoration. Perfect centerpiece for the discerning decorator! I have attached an image of the signature in comparison with 3 additional signatures Also attributed to Abruzzi (Harold Stephenson). There is, as you may judge for yourself, rather decidedly a wide range in the written forms. I believe this painting to be original and authentically Abruzzi, but you must make your own decision based upon the photos as this is a final sale. It must be so as fragile irreplaceable artworks cannot be shipped willy-nilly around as I’m sure you will agree. The original paper backing has been replaced.
The 1965-vintage celestial globe, which was a type commonly used in laboratory sessions that commonly accompany college astronomy lecture courses was offered at a fair price (which included shipping) and arrived in excellent shape. It was superbly packed with bubble wrap and heavy paper wads. Its condition was exactly as described by the seller in words and photos. This was an all-smiles purchase on my part.
