Meakin Fair Winds Bread / Dessert Plate 7” Brown Transferware Nautical. New York Harbor 1830, and Canton Port 1830. Alfred Meakin Fair Winds "USS Constitution Engaging Chinese Junks" brown on white transferware bread or dessert plate from the renowned potteries of Staffordshire, England. Pattern is from original copper engravings depicting historic nautical scenes of the Chinese export trade to America and feature the central image of the USS Constitution surrounded on the border by illustrations of an eagle and flag ("E Pluribus Unum"). New York Harbor 1830, and Canton Port 1830. Plate measures approx. 7" diameter and is dishwasher and detergent safe.In excellent pre-owned condition - no chips, cracks, crazing, scratches or utensil marks. What a lovely traditional plate to display or grace any dining table, and with brown on white transferware historic images, they'd be particularly terrific for year 'round dining, for a special autumn or Thanksgiving gathering, or to give as a lovely decorative and functional gift!
