This MMA pattern features a beautiful design that includes insects and flowers with magenta trim on a white background. History: Vista Alegre was founded in the early 1800's by Portuguese industrialist Pinto Basto. Here is a lovely vintage Mottahedeh Vista Alegre VA scalloped shell dish tray in the Chelsea Botanical pattern adapted from the Sir Hans Sloane's paintings and used on Chelsea porcelain. This MMA pattern features a beautiful design that includes insects and flowers with magenta trim on a white background. With its rich colors and elegant accents, Mottahedeh Chelsea Botanical is a timeless porcelain dinnerware pattern! The piece is 6 1/8 inches long and 5 3/8 inches across. Marked on the bottom: Metropolitan Museum of Art, VA Vista Alegre, Portugal, Mottahedeh (see photos). Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or stains, was well cared for. Shortly after, it was granted the title of Royal Factory in recognition of its artistic and fine quality wares. Vista Alegre also manufactured pieces for Mottahedeh, a recognized leader in luxury ceramic decorative items and historic designs. Mottahedeh holds the license to many classic designs based on Chinese Export and early European objects and has made pieces for the White House, the State Department and Diplomatic Corps as well as several museums.
