Offering for sale, new with tags and key, a black Vachetta leather Dooney Bourke Alto Collection Field Brief Satchel SECOND from Italy purchased in 2008 at a Dooney & Bourke store while on vacation in Southern California. When I got home with the satchel, I decided it was physically too big for me to use for work, and I stuck it in a closet where it has gracefully aged. The small closet smells wonderful with its leather scent. Vachetta leather is a full-grain cowhide leather with supple texture. It patinas over time due to its high fat content and vegetable tanning process. Vachetta leather is naturally left uncoated to allow the leather to absorb oils and sunlight. The leather darkens over time and with use as the natural characteristic markings of the leather emerge to develop a soft, rich patina and a natural matte finish. The satchel weighs almost 4 lbs empty. It is 15” long x 12-1/2” tall x 5” wide. The 1-1/2” wide leather strap is adjustable with a maximum drop of 22-1/2”. The satchel can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody. Other than the leather shoulder strap, it does not have a handle. There are 2 deep front pockets (7-3/4” deep x 7-1/2” gusseted width) that the satchel flap covers and can buckle lock. On the back is a large pocket 15” wide by 11” deep. Inside the satchel, there is a 12” wide x 10-1/2” deep zippered pocket. Also in the interior, there are 2 open pockets, each pocket is 7-1/2” wide with gussets x 6” deep. On the exterior of the right pocket is a 5 place pen holder, and on the left pocket, are 2 business card size pockets. I think the satchel is constructed to last a lifetime. Check out the photos. Being new with tags and key does not mean the satchel is perfect. It was a second because it’s missing the brad on the back of the satchel. I believe that can be easily and inexpensively fixed. Check out in the photos with text and arrows. The natural leather is naturally gouged and scratched and this may not be desirable for some people. Check the photos. If you order (and pay) before 1 pm EST, your treasure, in well wrapped, recycled boxes, gets to the post office for the 3:30 truck pick-up!
