This is Not Warhol and Not Basquiat, this is one of my abstract pop art paintings done in acrylic and spray paint, I took a thrift shop painting and painted over it leaving a few small original background areas present, it is a tribute to those classic artists but also a commentary on the art world and how crazy it is, commentary on who decides an artist is great and famous and who decides what makes a painting superior and more valuable than others, there are a million artists who do the same thing as good as or better than Warhol, Basquiat, Banksy, Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Pollock and on and on. The "nobody painting by nobody artist" quote on the piece comes from an egotistic and arrogant art snob appraiser who I connected with to try and get an appraisal of a really nice painting I have by a French Impressionist painter from the 1800's, a really nice and classic piece painted in France, which he called a "nobody painting by nobody artist", I thought it was so fitting for this piece and the commentary of the art world. So go ahead and buy this nobody painting by this nobody artist, which may someday be seen as one of the greats. Artist Background: Originally from Jersey City & New York City, now residing in San Diego, I have an extensive background in Art. I studied art going back to artistically talented classes in the days of high school and earlier, and then on to New Jersey City University and Monmouth University. I have had my Art featured in exhibitions & galleries, on websites, and at businesses. My art is comprised of Acrylic & Mixed Media paintings on wood, pallets/skids, canvas and anything else that I can find to make a good pallet, sketching, drawings, graphic design, original characters, and photography. For my paintings I use Acrylic & Spray Paint and experiment with a mix of some other mediums and methods. I try to create fresh and unique abstract, contemporary and modern paintings that are open to interpretation yet have certain inspiration behind them. I have been inspired by, enjoyed & admired the likes of artists ranging from Jackson Pollock to Andy Warhol, Van Gogh to Monet, Walt Disney to Chuck Jones, Matt Groening to Stan Lee, and Tim Burton to Wes Anderson. Some notable work includes art for companies ranging from Disney to Coca Cola, M&M’s, Starz Network, Google, as well as experience as a Creative Director and Art Director.
