PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS Band on the Run 1973 Apple Pressing SO-3415 Wly Jet VG+. Mastered at Capitol Mastering by Wally Traugott, whose "Wly" signature is etched into the Side 1 runout. Traugott was a senior mastering engineer at Capitol Records for over three decades, known for his work on records by Pink Floyd, The Beatles catalog, Bob Seger, Heart, and many others. Recorded under difficult circumstances in Lagos, Nigeria with a stripped-down lineup after two key members quit before the sessions, Band on the Run became McCartney's commercial and critical comeback — his first undisputed classic post-Beatles. The album opens with the three-part suite of the title track before moving into "Jet," "Bluebird," and "Mrs. Vandebilt" on Side 1. Side 2 delivers "Helen Wheels," "Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)," and the closing "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five." Engineered by Geoff Emerick. The US pressing includes "Helen Wheels," which was omitted from the original UK release. This is a US Apple Records pressing (SO-3415), manufactured by Apple Records, Inc. Dark grey portrait label with McCartney, Denny Laine, and Linda McCartney photos — correct for the US Apple issue. Mastered at Capitol Mastering by Wally Traugott, whose "Wly" signature is etched into the Side 1 runout.
