Red Star Line's BELGENLAND of 1923 (ex-White Star Line BELGIC of 1917) Card # 5. The card is in very good condition. Hello and welcome to our latest auction, this one featuring nearly 90 lots and highlighting the ocean liners of Belgium. A fine starboard side view on a line-issued, sepia-toned postcard of the Red Star Line's three-funneled flagship BELGENLAND of 1923 getting under way, with a tug at her bow. The BELGENLAND was originally built in 1917 for the White Star Line as the cargo-liner BELGIC and upon completion was employed as a troopship. After the end of World War One, she would be sold to the Red Star Line and rebuilt into a passenger liner, being renamed BELGENLAND. Sold off in 1935 to the Panama Pacific Line and renamed COLUMBIA. This lovely postcard has an ink mark on the upper left corner (appearing like the corner is 'boxed' or squared somehow) but rest assured, there is no crease. The card is in very good condition. We sincerely apologize for this and please know we do not make any profit on shipping costs.
