AN RARE AND UNCOMMON ROYCROFT TREASURE FROM THE ARTS & CRAFTS ERA. AN RARE AND UNCOMMON ROYCROFT TREASURE FROM THE ARTS & CRAFTS ERA: From the Roycroft Copper Shops, circa 1912-1915, this uniquely formed sconce features a distinctive craftsmen’s hand-hammered copper texture. The rare trefoil-shaped scroll design is both at the top and the candle arm at the base. This sconce matches an example held by the Brooklyn Museum in both artistic style and dimensions: 13” inches (30.02 cm) by 5 3/8” inches (13.65 cm). The museum attributes its piece to Victor Toothaker for the Roycrofters. This example features the orb and cross mark used by the Roycroft Copper Shops of the same era. It has been cleaned at some point in the past and has age-appropriate wear. Soot accumulation may be seen in the curved details at the top as well as surrounding the candlestick itself.
