I have for sale an 1877 award medal from the 12th Industrial Exhibition that was held by the San Franciso Mechanics Institute. They held 31 exhibitions between 1857 & 1899. This medal is bronze, 2 7/8 inches diameter and PCGS graded Genuine, environment damage - unc detail & housed in their holder. The obverse shows a mechanic receive laurel wreath from seated Greek goddess Nike with the seal of the City & County of San Francisco at her side. There is a star at the top rim. Golden Gate, ship & lighthouse can be seen in the far background. Factory & train are to the left. Agricultural items to the right. A bear's head is at the bottom. A. Demarest, SC. New York is at the bottom rim. Abraham Demarest Sr of New York was a 19th century engraver. The reverse at the rim reads INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION - SAN FRANCISCO CALIFORNIA.
