The steering shaft connects the steering wheel to the steering gear unit through a universal joint type coupling. The steering column is used to connect the steering wheel to the steering mechanism by transmitting the driver input torque from the steering wheel. The power steering pump/vane pump is a system driven by the crankshaft through the pulley and belt movement. The steering component is designed to easily steer the car in the direction indicated by the steering wheel.
