When the Scriptures talks of a man in this case, it is generalizing, meaning generic man, and not a specific person. Thus we can see that the beast is actually human. In actuality, the beast is both spirit and man. It is the product of a fusion of a spirit and a human female. The product is conspicuously a man, but latently a spirit. It is man that has degenerated to a sub human level. The beast does not have the number of a beast or the attributes of a beast, but that of a man. This is because, the beast is actually human. It is redolent of the analogy of defining the Devil as a Serpent. Thus instead of saying Devil, the Scripture also uses Serpent, while we are actually dealing with a being that is not a snake. He is supposed to have been one of the best in Heaven. Serpent is only used in analogy. In the same vein, beast is only a satirical application to a man who has refused to identify with the Lord God. The Devil himself was the first beast; the beast of Eden. He came to the first people like a beast; that is a serpent. That is why he is known as the Serpent. The anti-Christ, being one with the devil comes in the image and spirit of his father, the Devil. That is why he is equally known and addressed as the Beast. The mark of the Beast is not placed on animals but on man. It is a sign which incorporates the numbers of the Living God and the number of the Devil.
