USS Achilles ARL-41 Embroidered Snap Back Cap Hat Navy Blue In good used condition. Outer fabric is clean without tears or stains. The sweatband has signs of wear, as shown in photos. Nice embroidered cap. No materials tag. The fabric is a woven twill. A cap with this ship name is a little uncommon to find. After a long period of good service in WWII, the Achilles was struck from the Navy Register in 1946, and no other US Navy ship has had the name. The cap is clearly much newer than WWII (has a fairly recent made in USA tag), but someone must have wanted a USS Achilles remembrance. Cap is dark navy twill with bright yellow-gold thread for the lettering, plus grey and black for the ship stitching. It may have been custom stitched.
