Later, they changed their name to The Germs. They debuted in 1977 with the single "Forming." This band was formed during the peak of punk and featured Darby Crash, who is said to have lived a life similar to Sid Vicious of The Sex Pistols. He committed suicide at the age of 22. They were influenced by British punk as a whole, the CBGB scene, and also by Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and Lou Reed.
