In the 1890s, the Fulton Street rail terminal was the "Park Entrance" station for the Ferries & Cliff House Railway at 7th Avenue and Fulton Street. Built in 1889, this station featured a gable roof and brick-lined gates, serving as a vital transfer point for steam trains connecting downtown, the Bay District racetracks, and Golden Gate Park. The line utilized small, steam-powered locomotives to pull passenger trailers. They were nicknamed "dummy" engines because they were disguised as ordinary wooden streetcars to avoid spooking horses on the city streets. It is speculated this was a Taber image reprinted onto a postcard. CYKO stamp box (1904-20). Clean image. Later pencil text on the back describing the image. See scans.
