Vintage Clearwater Florida West Cleveland Street Memorial Causeway Postcard. Feel free to ask! Published by Hartman Litho Sales Co., Largo, Florida. This postcard captures a view of West Cleveland Street and Memorial Causeway in Clearwater, Florida, looking west toward the bascule drawbridge. The Memorial Causeway was the second iteration of a drawbridge constructed in the 1950s to replace the original 1927 span. It was named to honor the 25 men from Clearwater who died in World War I. The scene shows the streetscape just before the massive development of the 1960s, featuring period automobiles and the low-profile bridge structure that would eventually be replaced by a high fixed span in 2005. * Published by Hartman Litho Sales Co., Largo, Florida * Number E-13775 The postcard was postmarked August 13, 1959, from Clearwater, Florida, and mailed with the 3-cent "In God We Trust" Liberty series stamp.
