Vintage French gilted 24 k Absinth Crystal Fountain by GELB Paris. Absinthe is a strong herbal liqueur distilled with a great number of flavorful herbs. the sugar cube was placed on a slotted "absinthe spoon", and the water. was drizzled over the sugar into the glass of absinthe (typically in a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio). This is a super vintage absinthe fountain in ornate crytal . It has a beautiful fish-shaped knob . The metal is a shining 24 k golden heavy brass with a dolid brass shaped-fish on the lid . This perfectly kept and fully functional fountain is made in France . It has a pretty spigot . Absinthe would eventually enjoy its greatest popularity in fin-de-siècle Paris, with Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Verlaine, Alfred Jarry and Oscar Wilde among its most ardent imbibers. Fountain is full size at 14 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter . It is in excellent condition and very clean ,and there are no chips or cracks . It is marked made in France on the bottom and under the lid. Made by GELB in PARIS. It bears its original golden Tag marked cristal.
