Description

This vintage large Gibsons Staffordshire mug is a beautiful addition to any collection. The mug measures 4 inches in diameter at the base, 3.5 inches in diameter at the top, 4.3 inches in height and 5.25 inches in length, with a weight of 1 pound and 2 ounces. The piece is made of painted enamel ceramic and features a fox-hunting scene, with people astride horses along with hunting hounds, with the fox on the opposite side of the mug. The backstamp is the painted Crown with Gibsons/Staffordshire design that was used beginning in the early 1950s. The mug is in excellent used condition. There are no chips, cracks or signs of wear. There is normal crazing on the glaze of the tan body of the mug (not the gold portions or the hunting scenes) and a bit on the brown interior due to age.
