FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE.... Found in an estate liquidation on the island of Madeira in Portugal, that of a retired antiques dealer. Vintage Portuguese pottery wall plate. A classic blue and white hand painted image of a rooster is the center motif. Finished with a scalloped open work rim. The rooster has been considered the unofficial mascot of Portugal for decades. Found in a wall display of antique and vintage plates, It has survived free of chips or cracks, no abrasions. The plate measure 8 inches in diameter and has a pierced back rim making it easy to hang without a plate holder. I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size.
