Description
Vintage Postcard 1908 ICC Hotel Cristobal Panama Canal Zone Maduro Jr Ancon PM. AS IS- see pictures. Wear may include but is not limited to: wear on the edges and corners, yellowing/smudging/stains/foxing, and marks. This vintage color lithograph postcard features the I.C.C. Hotel at Cristobal, published by the well-known I.L. Maduro Jr. The reverse side is postally used with a crisp Ancon, C.Z. from 1908. The history of the I.C.C. Hotel at Cristobal is a central part of the "Social Engineering" project that made the American construction of the Panama Canal successful. While it looks like a standard vacation resort on the postcard, it was actually a strategic tool used by the Isthmian Canal Commission (I.C.C.) to solve a massive labor crisis. Item #: 480
